Chul-Won Choi, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Choi is a recognized leader in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), with extensive clinical and research experience in hematologic malignancies. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from Korea University and completed his clinical training at Korea University Medical Center, where he has since built his academic career. He currently serves as Professor and Chief of the Division of Hematology & Oncology at Korea University Guro Hospital and previously served as Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine (2018–2023). His international experience includes a fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NIH), further strengthening his expertise in hematologic diseases. In addition to his institutional roles, Dr. Choi has served as Chairman of the MPN Working Party of the Korean Society of Hematology and held leadership positions within the Korean Association of Internal Medicine. His clinical and research focus centers on MPNs, with broader expertise in leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and a strong emphasis on optimizing treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes. At the regional level, he is actively involved in Asia-Pacific collaborations and is a co-author of the Clinical Practice Recommendations for Myelofibrosis Management in the Asia-Pacific Region: The APAC-MF Alliance, reflecting his role in advancing evidence-based, regionally relevant MPN management.
